DMS
5000: Long Standoff Non-Contact Distance Gage
Up
to 24 inch standoff
1 (one) 30mm diameter gage head per measurement
The DMS 5000 is a non-contacting, ultrasonic precision
distance measurement system capable of accuracies of 0.001" or
better. It is intended for hostile environments as a stand
alone system or with a computer or PLC. Options are available
for analog output, automatic recalibration to a reference
surface, Measuremate software and
numerous software options. Options allow the gage to be used
in hybrid distance applications including, runout,
straightness, fill level, blind hole depth, counting,
thickness, flatness, missing bearing detection, piston height,
etc. The gage comes complete with controller, mounting
fixturing, air service, filters, electronic alignment and
cables.
Like the TMS family of products, the measurements taken by the
DMS series are not affected by surface variations such as
color, texture and reflectivity, electronic or mechanical
noise, humidity, lighting, water vapor, dust, or temperature.
The DMS products are non-contact, air-coupled ultrasonic
distance measurement systems designed for use in industrial
environments. The DMS product family can measure to a distance
of 23.9999 inches from the material surface.
Any surface, liquid or solid, can be measured, on line, to an
accuracy of better than one-thousandth of an inch.
Applications include inspecting piston engines for missing
connecting rod bearing inserts, measuring the piston deck
height in diesel engines, precision fill level, depth of a
blind hole, flatness, bottle cap security, etc.
PERFORMANCE
Accuracy: +/-0.00025" or +/-0.025% of the distance from
the transducer to the target surface, whichever is greater,
for distances up to 1.5", +/-0.033% from 1.5" to 4" and
+/-0.05% thereafter.
Repeatability: +/-0.00025" or +/-0.025% of the distance
from the transducer to the target.
Inspection Rate: Variable to 125 measurements per
second.
Operating Range: 0.2" - 23.999" or 5mm - 609mm (Transducer to

Off-Axis Alignment: +/- 2.5 to 5 degrees depending on target
size, material and range.
